An 18-year-old boy shot in the chest in Coney Island died after he was taken to the hospital, cops said Sunday night.
Shortly before 5 p.m. cops responding to a 911 call discovered the young man with a gunshot wound in his chest near the corner of West 36th St. and Surf Ave., police said.
EMS transported him to NYU Langone Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds, police said.
No one has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing, according to police.
The child’s name is being withheld until family are notified.
Compared with last year, murder is down 57% in that area of Brooklyn, from 21 this week in 2024 to nine in 2025, according to CompStat data.
